Desma

(She/Her), since 2016 at Holzmarkt

As a person who has been affected by discrimination several times, I know how common such experiences are. And while it is always hurtful, it is the situations in your own (immediate) environment that often hit harder because you least expect them – and they are sometimes the most difficult to address. That’s why it’s important to me that my work in the working group contributes to making Holzmarkt a safer space for everyone. Putting the needs of the person concerned first must be just as important as reflecting on my own bias.

At Holzmarkt since 2024.

I have felt a connection with this special place for many years – then known as Bar 25, now known as Holzmarkt 25 & Kater. So I’m all the more delighted to be part of the team now.
Awareness is essential to me, because especially nowadays it is more important than ever to create a respectful and mindful space for everyone.

Koch

(None/They), Runner & Catering Manager at Holzmarkt, here for 10 years.

I am in the Awareness team because it is a matter close to my heart that we create and maintain an inclusive climate here, treating each other as non-discriminatorily as possible and not closing our eyes to problems but constantly growing and developing together.

(She/Her), F&B Night Manager, with us since 2013.

Why Awareness?
The Holzmarkt and the people who work here are close to my heart.
In the Awareness team, we have the opportunity to strengthen our togetherness and make Holzmarkt even more liveable for all of us.

Stella

(She/Her), with us since 2022. Bar and Store Manager at Kater.

Discriminatory, transgressive behavior is a structural problem in our society. Even places like Holzmarkt and Kater are not free of it. I hope that through our work in the Awareness group it becomes a matter of course to be able to ask for help. In the same way, I hope it becomes a matter of course to offer help and solidarity when injustice and boundary violations are observed.

Jennice

Hey, I’m Jennice (They/Them).

For me, it’s a place where many people from all over the world connect with each other. Awareness means cultivating a low-discrimination and respectful interaction with each other and creating spaces where we can meet at eye level and feel comfortable. I would like to actively contribute to this in the Awareness team.
